Steven Kemp, B.A.Sc., FITE, RSP1, P. Eng.

Steve is a connected, well respected Professional with over 30 years of Public Sector experience. He started his public sector career in 1990. In addition to internships with Peel Region, Ministry of Transportation - Ontario and the Region of Ottawa-Carleton, Steve has worked for the City of Toronto (1994-2009), York Region (2009-2014), the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville (2014-2016) and Durham Region (2016-2026).


Steve has been a licenced professional engineer in the Province of Ontario since 1996. He is  a proud member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and served as the Toronto Section ITE President in 2005. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Traffic Council and is a former member of the Board of Directors for Intelligent Transportation Systems Canada. At a national level, Steve is a member of the Transportation Association of Canada and serves as the Emerging Technologies Chair on the Transportation and Operations Management Committee. Steve is a Road Safety Professional (RSP1) as certificated by the Transportation Professional Certification Board. Steve is also a member of the Greater Toronto Transportation Conference and the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals.


Steve has a broad scope of experience in the Public Sector focused on Transportation Services. He has worked in traffic signal operations, intelligent transportation systems, road user safety, automated enforcement and maintenance operations. He has years of experience managing complex issues with residents and members of council, media relations, emergency management and special events planning. Steve enjoys passing along the benefits of this experience to others, working alongside existing teams to deliver services to residents.
